In the treatment of chronic pain, multid sciplinary team approach is recommended. Psychiatrists in the multidisciplinary team, evaluate the mental status, pain nature of the patient and treat patient> with psychopharmacological and psychosocial measures. Chronic pain patients usually comorbid with depressive disorder, anxiety disorder, somatoform disorder. And this comorbid psychiatric diseases are associated with the progress and result of the chronic pain. Tricyclic antidepressants are effective in the treatment of chronic pain, and also we use anticonvulsants, stimulants, anxiolytics and psychotropics in the treatment of chronic pain. Cognitive-Behavioral treatment, psychotherapy, hypnotherapy and family therapy are quite helpful to the chronic pain patients.
